A side of coffee

Its leaves were anciently prepared as wine, its fruit as infusion, and the seeds have been roasted and brewed for centuries. Yet, I still like what it offers as spice out of the mortar.

The sudden idea was to make a portrait out of a single coffee seed. It came as I prepared for my contribution to the International Day of Coffee which is being celebrated today in various parts of the world.

One thing led to another.

After taking a picture, I recalled some of my recipes out of my Berlin era, and began imagining what this Choquette avocado could handle. The result was small amounts of cumin, salt, and a single coffee seed. Once pulverized in the mortar, I crushed some fresh garlic, added very fine olive oil, and mixed it with the avocado cut in chunks, before adding a couple of drops of pumpkin seed oil.

Enjoy your coffee!
