Malanga, here Chinese potato
Once more, today I had a moment of strong reference in my palate. The root is known here as papa china but growing up, I know that the Cubans refer to it as malanga. Other cultural circles may call it taro, or pituca. A wonderful flavor then, a wonderful flavor today.
