Tomato, Cherry
If I were to make a list of the fruits of nature which I find to be most succulent in taste, most vibrant to eyes and nose, and lively in their abilities to nourish, one gift to the world out of the American continent would be included. I would need to show the vast family of tomato plants my utmost appreciation, especially for the magic its fruit is able to convey at any temperature. Throughout Europe, the Americas and Africa, the fruit of the solanum lycopersicum Linnaeus is omnipresent in salads, while as soup, on pizza, and in sauces, it imparts a world of its own.
Pictured are cherry tomatoes from the wonderful Windfall Farms, in Montgomery, New York.
