The very first thing that a writer has to face is that he can not be told what to write. Nobody asked me to be a writer. I chose to be a writer.
The one thing you have to do is try to tell the truth. In order to do it, when the book comes out, it may hurt you but in order for it to hurt you, it had to hurt me first. I can only tell you about yourself, as far as I can face myself. One thinks, no one has ever suffered they way I have suffered, and then you realize that your suffering does not isolate you. Your suffering is your bridge that many people have suffered before you.
The artist is not free to do what he wants to do, the artist is free to do what he has to do.
