My Garden / Twenty-one days with my Father – 2026

For our family, the early 1980s was a vibrant period, with challenges, drastic changes, and joys. It led to my apostasy, and brought your first cancer diagnosis but we celebrated your silver wedding anniversary. This presented me with the opportunity to offer an expression of gratitude, admiration, and recognition, in composing “My Garden” to honor your love as parents and individuals. In the company of hundreds of loved ones, you both renewed your vows, and I performed my gift to you.

My Garden

Two worlds were confronting
I was arriving on earth
According to cycles
and the reasons for birth
love should always be a mountain
having a lot
and make it all worth

Love given away
is all I see
is all I breathe
Caring day by day
Makes life so clear
Makes life so dear

It took a while
to see the life to lead
it took a taste
of the deep wild sea
to see the need
and not to waste
the smell of my rose garden,
before my heart would be hardened
by the creatures of the sea

And if you ever wondered
what paradise is
Come to my garden
This is my garden
