autonomous protection

Especially from the medicine of earlier days of human cultures, but also from the knowledge and conviction of many in modern society, nature is intrinsically and extrinsically determined to protect us as its surrounding creatures. Just as naturally it develops ways to protect itself. Sometimes it happens on such brutal levels that we think it must have been built by human hand. This tree is known in Ecuador as chonta. In English is referred to as peach tree. Other names in the American continent include pejibaye, pupuña, pipire, pijuayo, pixbae, chontaduro, cachipay, pifá, pibá, chima, cachipay, and tembe.

  1. I haven’t seen a tree trunk like this before. Nature has such great and intuitive mechanisms for protection itself against harm. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Natural protection is all around us. Even the taste of garlic is a protection from the plant but we override the repellent due to our sense of “taste”
